Mount Kenya is one of the world’s famous big mountains. Mt Kenya is Africa’s second highest standing mountain and the highest of all Kenya Mountains. At a height of 5199 meters above sea level, Climbing Mount Kenya expeditions has three peaks, Batian 5,199m being the most difficult climbing peak, Nelion 5,188m second difficult climb and point Lenana 4,985m.

Other major summits on the mountain include Point Piggott 4,957m, Point Dutton 4,885 and Point John 4,883m. Of the Mt. 10 Days Mount Kenya Climbing Hiking Adventure Holiday Safari that combines the two most scenic routes of Mt Kenya. Ascent is on the dry side of mountain which offers some of the finest walking. Climb up through forest into a wide ridge approach to the summit area then proceed for a game viewing safari via the scenic floor of the great rift valley into the world famous Bird Sanctuary of Lake Nakuru, then South over the Mau Escarpment to Kenya’s greatest concentration of game – the Maasai Mara game reserve where the annual wildebeest migration takes place every year starting from July through to October.

Mount Kenya is roughly circular, about 60km across at the 200mm contour, where the steep font hills rise out of the gentler slopes of the centered highlands. At the center of the massif, the main peaks rise sharply from around 4,500m to the main summit of Batian 5,199m, Nelion 5,188m and point Lenana 4,985m. Day 1of the 10 Days Mount Kenya Climbing Hiking Adventure Holiday Safari: Arrive in Nairobi

Day 2of the 10 Days Mount Kenya Climbing Hiking Adventure Holiday Safari: Nairobi - Old Moses Camp

Pick up from your Hotel at 07:30hrs, then we proceed to Nanyuki Town which takes like 2-3 hours. On arrival we finalize with the crews and purchase of food to be used on the mountain. After this, we proceed to the Sirimon Gate which normally takes not more than 1 hour, on arrival at the gate we will have lunch as we formalize the entry process and payments of the fees as required by the Park Authority. After the process the walking start from the gate to the camp, this normally takes 2-3 hours to get to Old Moses. Dinner and overnight at Old Moses Camp

After breakfast, follow the track uphill, forking left at the junction. After one hour from Old Moses Camp, the track crosses Ontulili River. Go right contouring through the Moorland and crossing Liki North and continue uphill to Mackinders Valley from where there are panoramic views up the valley towards the main peaks. Day 4of the 10 Days Mount Kenya Climbing Hiking Adventure Holiday Safari: Shipton Camp

After breakfast at the camp, spend the day acclimatizing. Walk to Kami Hut down to Hauseberg Lakes and then back to Shipton for dinner and overnight.

Day 5of the 10 Days Mount Kenya Climbing Hiking Adventure Holiday Safari: Shiptons - Point Lenana- Chogoria Gate 6 hrs, 14km, 785m ascent

Leave the camp very early in the morning and trek up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns arriving point Lenana at 6:30am, taking about 3hrs. After the sunrise, descend down to Mintos hut, 2hrs, for breakfast. After breakfast, walk down to Mount Meru Bandas, 2950m, for dinner and overnight and stay.

Descend for about two hours, 15km to forest clearance to catch a 4×4 transfer vehicle to Chogoria and connect with your safari vehicle and drive to Lake Nakuru – dinner and overnight at Golden palace Hotel. Meal plan Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 7 of the 10 Days Mount Kenya Climbing Hiking Adventure Holiday Safari: Nakuru National park – full day game drives

After breakfast, proceed for a day game drives at Lake Nakuru national park coming back to the hotel later in the afternoon for lunch. Lake Nakurus claim to fame is anchored on its flamingo’s and the over 400 species of birds found here. The sight of the at times millions of flamingos is quite spectacular. From a distance the lake appears ringed in pink. The Lake has also earned a reputation as an important haven for endangered species- particularly the Rothschild Giraffe and the black and white rhino. Lions, waterbuck, buffalo and baboons are all residents here

After breakfast, depart the hotel and drive via the scenic floor of the Great Rift Valley to Masai Mara arriving in time for lunch at Mara Sopa lodge or similar. Explore Masai Mara Game Reserve.The Masai Mara is one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. Morning and afternoon ‘Spice’ game drives are planned. Large mammals are varied, abundant and easy to see. Residents among the parks mammals are; Masai Giraffe, Buffalo, Impala, Zebra, Topi, both the Thomson’s and Grant’s Gazelles. Optional hot Air Balloon rides are available on this day at an additional cost. On this final day in the Mara, you also have an opportunity to visit an authentic Masai village.
