The Masai Mara Great Migration, Kenya

As the plains in Serengeti dry out, the animals spend the summer and early fall in Masai Mara before heading south again in the fall to repeat the cycle. The scale of this Wildlife Adventures event and the encounters between predator and prey, offer an extraordinary and an amazing Wildlife Adventures spectacle in Africa. There is the opportunity to see the animals in the wild and the awe-inspiring migration during our visit to East Africa this summer.

The Masai Mara Great Migration is the largest mass movement of land mammals on earth, when more than a million wildebeest, along with thousands of zebra, topi and gazelle, stalked by predators like big cats, vultures and hyenas circle through the Serengeti plains in Tanzania and Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya. The Mara River crossing is the hardest part of their journey, a life-or-death situation since there are vicious Nile crocodiles and territorial hippos is the river waiting to attack. Hippos are herbivores but we saw one feeding on the zebra that fell preys to the crocodiles.

Day 1Of the 7 Days Africa Wildlife Game Safari: Arrive in Nairobi

Arrive in Nairobi, Kenya, where you are met and transferred to your Hotel Nairobi Heka Hotel, located just 10 miles from the airport. Dinner and Overnight stay. Meal Plan Bed and Breakfast

Day 2Of the 7 Days Africa Wildlife Game Safari: Nairobi - Samburu National Park

After breakfast, we depart by road to Samburu National Park. Samburu is fiercely beautiful with its arid savannahs watered by the lovely Uaso Nyiro River. It is also one of Kenya’s most protected areas and home to species only found north of the equator, from the reticulated giraffe to Grevy zebras and Beisa Oryxes. Day 3Of the 7 Days Africa Wildlife Game Safari: Samburu National Park

Dawn breaks in golden bands as we start our day in the bush by scanning the river from our tent’s veranda with a cup of steaming coffee in hand. Before the dew is off the grass, we’re off in pursuit of the elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs that thrive in the reserve’s grasslands and acacia woodlands. Day 4Of the 7 Days Africa Wildlife Game Safari: Samburu National Park - Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, drive to Lake Nakuru National Park stopping briefly at the Thompson’s Falls. Continue to Lake Nakuru National park arriving in time for lunch and then later enjoy an afternoon game drive.

The Park is a home to stunning flocks of lesser and Greater Flamingos, which literally turn the lakeshores in to a magnificent pink stretch. The bird life here is world renown and over 400 bird’s species exist here, White Pelicans, Plovers, Egrets and Marabou Stork. Day 5Of the 7 Days Africa Wildlife Game Safari: Lake Nakuru - Drive to the Masai Mara Game Reserve

After breakfast at your lodge, depart for the Masai Mara Game Reserve arriving in time for lunch at Masai Mara Sopa lodge. Afternoon game drive in this famous reserve reveals wonders. Animals present include: Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Elephant, Buffalo and Rhino. Dinner and overnight at Masai Mara Sopa lodge Meal Plan Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 6Of the 7 Days Africa Wildlife Game Safari: Masai Mara National Reserve

Today we enjoy an early morning game drive then return to our lodge for a full breakfast. Alternatively we can spend the day in the park in search of predators and their prey like the Zebra, Wildebeest, and Giraffe. We have lunch at one of the nearby Lodge or camp.
