On our Masai Mara Photographic Safari Holiday, we will spends time in two exclusive wildlife conservancies in the Mara Eco-system: Ol Kinyei Conservancy and Olare Motorogi Conservancy. This Masai Mara Photographic Safari Holiday is designed especially for photographers, staying four nights in Kenya’s finest wildlife area, the Mara ecosystem, and escorted by our trained wildlife photographer.

Our tour leaders are full time wildlife photographers with great experience in the field as well as in guiding and photographic instruction. Masai Mara Photographic Safari Holiday offers a small client-leader ratio that allows for personal attention and customized guidance on photography.

The Maasai Mara and the adjoining Loita Plains form the northern-most section of the Serengeti – Mara ecosystem, a 25 000 km² wilderness that delivers the World’s greatest wildlife spectacle, the annual wildebeest migration. These grazers, together with plains zebra, Thompson’s gazelle and other grazers and their attendant predators perform a cyclical migration through the Serengeti – Mara ecosystem.

Game drives are done in open-sided 4×4 safari vehicles, with experienced Maasai safari guides, to look for the Big Cats in the park and the conservancies. Night game drives offered at both camps allow you the opportunity to be out when the Big Cats are most active.

Approximately 2 million animals team up in the Mara from Serengeti during this period. The plains are full of action giving the best moments for wildlife photography.

What to Expect on Masai Mara Photographic Safari Holiday

Porini Mara Camp has six guest tents sited in the shade of Yellow-barked Acacia trees along the banks of the Laetoli, a permanent spring within Ol Kinyei. The tents are spacious and each has an en-suite bathroom with flush toilet and safari shower. With no more than 12 guests in camp one gets the experience of real safari camping in the bush in an exclusive private wilderness but with all the comforts required by discerning travelers. Food is excellent with home baked bread, fresh salads and high quality meals prepared by the camp Chef.

Day 1of the Masai Mara Photographic Safari Holiday l 6 Days: Arrive in Nairobi

Pick up from Nairobi airport and transfer to your new home for overnight stay at Ololo Safari Lodge. Ololo Lodge balances convenience with comfort for any traveler visiting Kenya. The lodge is situated on the fringes of Nairobi National Park in a quiet, leafy suburb; this is the perfect place to unwind after a long-haul flight. Day 2of the Masai Mara Photographic Safari Holiday l 6 Days: Nairobi - Masai Mara

After breakfast, depart Nairobi’s Wilson airport at 10am for the one hour flight to the Mara. You’ll be met at the Naboisho Ol Seki airstrip by Porini Mara staff and transferred to camp. Settle into your tent and enjoy lunch prepared by the camp chef. Afternoon game drives in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy, followed by a sundowner at a scenic spot. After breakfast, the search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues during our extensive photographic game runs. After breakfast, depart the camp and drive through Ol Kinyei and Naboisho Conservancies to Olare Motorogi Conservancy arriving at Porini Lion Camp for lunch. Afternoon game drive in the exclusive Olare Motorogi Conservancy, away from the crowd in the reserve, and with an excellent chance of sighting lions, cheetahs and leopards all of which are found in the conservancy. Day 5of the Masai Mara Photographic Safari Holiday l 6 Days: Masai Mar National Park

The plains are best explored by vehicle on early morning and late afternoon game drives when wildlife is most active. Guided nature walks provide a more intimate insight into the natural environment and spotlight night drives add a thrilling sense of adventure to the possible sighting of nocturnal species. One of the camp’s delightful traditions is stopping at a scenic spot for refreshing sundowners during the late afternoon drive.

The Mara has a richly varied resident population of wildlife, including all the Big 5 along with rarer species like cheetah, bat-eared foxes and Roan antelope. The Great Migration occurs when the vast herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle move through the ecosystem following the rains and fresh grazing.

After breakfast, early morning game drive in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy and then transfer to the Olare airstrip to fly back on the 11am flight to Wilson Airport in Nairobi, arriving at around 12.05h. On this day, we have optional Balloon ride in Masai Mara
