Lake Turkana camping safari adventure is camping expedition which run in land cruiser or expedition trucks which was formally know us the Lake Turkana bus tour adventure. You will traverse along some of Africa’s ‘bumpiest’ roads; see wildlife endemic to the North of Kenya, beautiful mountain forest surrounded on all sides by hot dusty deserts as well as spectacular scenery which includes the people of northern Kenya that make the most lasting impression; nomadic pastoralists such as the Gabbra, Turkana and Samburu whose adherence to a strictly traditional lifestyle and dress is practically unique in modern East Africa., eventually arriving at shores of the beautiful Jade Sea (Lake Turkana).

Lake Turkana Camping Safari Adventure l Lake Turkana Safari:- Leave the tarmac and city lights behind on this unusual journey into the remote and sparsely-populated northern region of Kenya. Here you will meet the unusual traditional tribes of Kenya, experiencing Samburu, Gabbra and Turkana cultures amongst others. Driving along bumpy African roads in a 4×4 Land Cruiser we visit isolated small villages, Rift Valley lakes and wild places that few get to see, taking in spectacular scenery on our travels.

Lake Turkana camping safari adventure takes you up into the heart of the Northern Frontier District via the Sweetwaters and Samburu Game Reserve. Our camp is situated right on the beach of the lake with spectacular views of the South Island. There is a 20-seat boat which is based here and is available for sunset cruises and our visit to Elmolo Bay some 12 kms to the north. You will see a great variety of tribes during the tour and cross the Chalbi Desert if dry. During the rains it becomes an enormous shallow lake.

Lake Turkana Camping Safari Adventure l Lake Turkana Safari is on the World Heritage list and it serves as universally valuable for the breeding ground of Nile crocodile (of which it is home to the biggest), hippopotamus, and numerous venomous snakes. The area around Lake Turkana is recognized in history as the place where hominid remains have been found amongst other fossils. Today, Kenyan tribes reside on the lake shores and live a traditional life as hunter-gatherers and fishermen.

The Central Island (also known as Crocodile Island), in the middle of Lake Turkana, is a volcanic island 500 hectares in size. It is made up of over than a dozen craters and cones, 3 of which have formed lakes. An experience at Lake Turkana will involve geographical beauty, rural homesteads and fishing boats, warm-hearted people, interesting animals and natural discovery.
