Namibia is a photographer’s dream destination. The country’s spectacular desert landscapes of soaring sand dunes, vast horizons and cracked pans, its rugged mountains, dramatic canyon and startling Skeleton Coast and the unpolluted night skies, along with striking wildlife and unusual flora (quiver trees are a particular highlight) make couldn’t be more photogenic.
Namibia is the second most sparsely populated country on earth after Mongolia. It is also home to some of Africa’s most visually spectacular landscapes. Comprising mostly of desert, the vast dune systems of the Namib Naukluft National Park sweep their way into the shifting sands of Namibia’s Skeleton Coastal area a stretch of coastline that is cooled by the Benguela current, which, when it clashes with the desert heat, creates coastal fog that supports entire ecosystems. Namibian landscape photography is in a class of its own!
With spectacular and bizarre scenes including Fish River Canyon, the blazing red dunes of Sossusvlei, the Skeleton Coast and the Spergebeit ghost town, Namibia is Africa at its most epic.
