Kenyan safari holiday offers all the excitement one craves of Africa. Famous for its stunning landscape, magnificent wildlife and pristine beaches, it is home to ancient tribal civilizations, the Great Rift Valley and some of the most dramatic game viewing to be found anywhere, including the migration of over a million wildebeest to the Masai Mara.

Africa’s most luxurious safaris Lodges and Camps

Angama Mara, Kenya

It doesn’t get more Out of Africa than Angama Mara, whose property—a hilly section of the Ngong Hills on the western outskirts of Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve—appears in the legendary film. Owners Steve and Nicky Fitzgerald picked up some know-how during their time at andBeyond before debuting this new lodge in 2015, setting a new standard for safari lodges everywhere. The two separate camps, with 15 tents each, are as impressive as their views of the Great Rift Valley: think Nairobi-made canvas and Masai-inspired brickwork, writing desks, floor-to-ceiling windows, and terraces that hang over the Oloololo Escarpment, where giraffe and wildebeest roam.

Mahali Mzuri (Motorogi Conservancy, Kenya

The 12 suites at Richard Branson’s safari camp are tents in name only. The units all have enormous canopied verandas replete with roll-top bath tub and infinity pool. After a day of lion spotting, guests retreat to the Nasaro spa tent where the signature treatment is a “healing journey” involving rose quartz and amethyst. Dinner is served in a communal area but staff can arrange champagne barbecues in the bush.

Africa Luxury Safari Holidays

Four Seasons Safari Lodge (Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

For those that want safari and the comfort of a hotel, there’s the Four Seasons Safari Lodge.

There are 77 guestrooms, 12 suites (with private plunge pools) and five villas — all of which come with rooms large enough to accommodate a herd of bison. At night, hotel staff armed with flashlights are posted along the hotel’s elevated walkways in case guests accidentally stumble into the bush.

andBeyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, Tanzania

The rim of Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater isn’t the easiest to reach, but safari company andBeyond accepted the challenge, building this luxury lodge right on the caldera’s lip. The result: a gorgeous baroque-style sleep that’s every space, from the 30 suites kitted out with Victorian furniture and Persian rugs to the domed dining room, looks out over vast grasslands that stretch all the way to the horizon. Grab your binoculars for a chance to spot zebras and rhinos from the comfort of your own room—just don’t be late for dinner, where white-gloved staff delivers pan-African dishes (duck with kumquat and chili marmalade, perhaps) on silver platters.

Loisaba Tented Camp, Loisaba Conservancy, Kenya

Why you should go: Wildlife

Loisaba Conservancy is outstandingly beautiful, its abundant wildlife is truly wild and its accommodation is comfortable beyond measure.

Perched on the edge of an escarpment, Loisaba Tented Camp is designed to capitalize on unhindered views across Laikipia’s mottled landscape all the way to Mt Kenya. All accommodations and main areas enjoy a breathtaking vantage point over an expansive panorama.

African-themed sophistication and style is the flavor of Loisaba Tented Camp. Spacious and airy tents are custom-built with large floor-to-ceiling doors and windows, high ceilings and polished wood floors. The tent suites are adorned in chic Africana furniture with a modern European twist.

The inviting main areas of Loisaba Tented Camp include a large open dining area, separate open lounge and bar, a large wooden decking area for outside dining, relaxing and enjoying the view, and one of Africa’s most picturesque infinity pools.

Reasons to Choose Africa Luxury Safari Holidays

1: Plush Pampering

There is no greater way to indulge in the finer things in life than a luxury safari in Southern Africa. These extravagant experiences are characterized by opulent suites fit for royalty, a seemingly endless supply of mouthwatering meals, sumptuous spa treatments, and, of course, unforgettable encounters with the continent’s bewitching wildlife.

2: Beautiful Backdrops

Naturally, you could enjoy plush accommodations anywhere in the world. What sets these luxury lodges apart are their beguiling settings, many of them far-flung and removed from the stifling burdens of civilization. Turn your thoughts instead to the call of the wild, the waterways of the Okavango Delta pierced by the gold of the setting sun, or velveteen night skies resplendent with the silver of the Milky Way.

3: Impeccable service

A luxury lodge is but a pretty shell without the dedication and warmth of its staff. All the lodges we use have been hand-picked for their impeccable service and attention to detail. Staff members all appear to have been hired for their ‘sixth sense’ – their ability to anticipate your needs, to augment your experience and to ensure that you depart the continent with lasting memories.

AFRICA LUXURY SAFARI HOLIDAYS – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does Africa Luxury Safari Holidays cost?

The minimum cost of an African safari really depends on your time frame, where you choose to go and the style of accommodation you are after. Probably the minimum cost we quote is around $4000 per person excluding international flights in order to have a worthwhile safari experience. When safari is concerned… there really is no maximum! The best thing to do if you are not sure is to ring us, and we can advise you on which country suits your budget and interests the most.

When is the best time for an Africa Safari?

As with most African holidays, the best time to go on an Africa Safari is usually during the winter months between June and October. This is the dry season when the weather is great, and as the bush becomes less dense and water scarce, it is easier to spot the wildlife coming to drink at the waterholes.

Luxury African Safari Accommodation

The essence of the safari experience is obviously the spectacular African wilderness and wildlife – but your accommodation is a big part of the experience too. Your safari can be simple and rustic (bucket showers, no electricity), or fantastically luxurious, chic and stylish (with fine wines and dining, spa treatments and every comfort), with lots of options in between.
